Seniors Golf Section

Welcome from Kevin Friend – Seniors Captain 2024

As Seniors Captain this year and on behalf of the Seniors Section, I would like to welcome you to our Club.

We have excellent golf teaching pros and an excellent driving range. To join the Seniors section, it’s a £10 one-off payment and forms can be found on the Seniors board.

For those without a handicap, we can help. Many members will be happy to play with you for the required number of rounds to enable you to submit cards and obtain your handicap.

We have a robust section, with over 130 active members. Seniors are extremely active within this club. We play every Wednesday (providing the course is open). We also have friendly matches against other local clubs.

For those who only wish to play 9 holes, we have a competition, also on Wednesdays.

So, if you’re over 55 and wish to join a vibrant and enthusiastic bunch of people, then you are more than welcome.

I look forward to meeting you.

If you have any questions, then please contact me on email: k.friend62@aol.co.uk

I would like to join the Seniors Section?

The Seniors Section meets every Wednesday morning for randomly drawn competitions. You need to be over 55 years of age and have a registered club handicap with a CONGU Life-Time ID. New members to the club who meet these criteria can join the section immediately – there is no qualifying period for experienced golfers. For those who do not have a handicap there is an option to join as a social member with a further option to upgrade to a playing member as soon as an ‘active’ handicap is obtained.
Members are expected to play to their handicap standard on a regular basis and maintain a reasonable speed of play. It is a condition of some Senior Trophy Competitions that a maximum handicap of 36 will apply.
To join, simply jot down your name and contact details on a piece of paper and mark it for the attention of the Seniors Captain or Seniors Secretary. Hand it in at golf reception or leave it in the Seniors pigeon hole next to the downstairs men’s changing room. Someone will then contact you and explain how to join in. The joining fee is £5.00.
